An e-bike is the main work tool for many couriers in Vilnius. But should you buy one or rent? The answer depends on how long you plan to deliver and how much risk you want to take.
Buying: what it really costs
- The bike: a dual-battery ENGWE M20 costs around €1,300 at large European retailers (October 2026). Prices vary by shop and version.
- Accessories: a strong lock, helmet, phone holder, lights and possibly a GPS tracker.
- Repairs and wear: brake pads, tyres, inner tubes, chargers — and lost income while the bike is broken.
- Theft: if your own bike is stolen, the whole investment is lost.
Renting with Kilun
- Deposit: €100, refundable — the first weekly payment comes after 1 week of riding.
- Price: €50–60 per week depending on the rental period (about €217 per month on the monthly plan).
- Repairs: free for faults from factory defects or normal careful use.
- Helmet, lock, phone holders, GPS tracker and winter gloves included.
- No long commitment: the minimum rental is 1 week; to end the rental, let us know at least 3 days before you return the bike.
Cost over time
Here is what renting costs over different periods at current Kilun prices (October 2026), compared with buying a new dual-battery ENGWE M20.
| Period | Renting with Kilun | Buying |
|---|---|---|
| 1 week | €60 | about €1,300 + accessories |
| 4 weeks | €200 (monthly plan) | about €1,300 + accessories |
| 3 months | about €650 | about €1,300 + repairs |
| 6 months | about €1,300 | about €1,300 + repairs |
| 12 months | about €2,600 | about €1,300 + repairs and parts |
On paper, renting reaches the price of a new bike after about 6 months. But the comparison is not that simple:
- Repairs and downtime: when you own the bike, every repair, spare part and day off the road is your cost. With Kilun, repairs are free and you do not pay for days when the bike cannot be used because of a fault.
- Theft: a stolen bike means losing the whole investment. Kilun bikes have GPS trackers, and we work with the police to recover them.
- Cash today: buying means paying €1,300 or more upfront. Renting starts with a €100 refundable deposit.
- Flexibility: you can stop renting with 3 days’ notice. A bike you own has to be sold, usually at a loss.

Everything in one app
Kilun rentals are managed in the Kilun app: you sign the agreement on your phone, get a reminder on payment day and pay by bank or card in a few taps — or choose to pay in cash. If the bike breaks, the app shows you the nearest repair point.
So which is better?
If you are sure you will deliver full-time for a year or more and can handle repairs yourself, buying can be cheaper in the long run. If you are just starting, delivering seasonally, or need to start earning today without spending €1,000+, renting is usually the smarter choice: you keep your cash, avoid repair costs and can stop at any time.
