Food delivery is one of the fastest ways to start earning in Vilnius. Platforms such as Wolt and Bolt Food work with independent courier partners, and many couriers deliver by bicycle or e-bike — no car or driving licence needed. Here is what you need to get started.
1. Basic requirements
- Age: at least 18 years old.
- Smartphone: with mobile internet and a local phone number.
- A legal right to work in Lithuania: a Lithuanian ID or passport, an EU residence card, or a Lithuanian residence permit (TRP) for non-EU citizens.
- Bank account: for receiving payouts.
- Vehicle: bicycles and e-bikes are accepted by both platforms.
2. Register your individual activity
Courier partners in Lithuania usually work as self-employed. Wolt’s guide for Lithuania asks for an Individual Activity Certificate requested through Mano VMI (the State Tax Inspectorate’s portal) and recommends activity code 532000 (“Other postal and courier activities”). Keep your certificate and bank details ready before you apply.
3. Apply in the app
- Wolt: apply in the Wolt Partner app or on the Wolt courier website, verify your identity with a selfie and your documents, sign the partner agreement and go online once approved. There may be a waiting list depending on demand.
- Bolt Food: fill in the courier application form on bolt.eu and wait for the team to review your details.
- You may work with more than one platform at the same time.
4. Equipment you need
- An insulated delivery bag (provided or sold by the platform).
- A phone holder on the handlebar and a power bank.
- A helmet, lights and a bright reflective vest — see our guide to e-bike rules in Lithuania.
- A strong lock: bikes are left outside restaurants and apartment buildings many times a day.
5. Choose the right bike
A regular bicycle works, but an e-bike lets you complete more orders per shift with less effort, especially in hilly parts of Vilnius and in winter. A dual-battery e-bike covers a full shift on one charge. If you are not sure you will deliver long term, renting is the safer start. Compare the costs: Rent or buy an e-bike?
6. Your first week as a courier

- Start small: do a few short orders close to home to learn how pick-ups and hand-overs work.
- Learn the busy hours: lunch and dinner time are usually the busiest, so plan your shifts around them.
- Track your earnings and expenses from the first day — it makes paying taxes much easier.
- Charge everything every night: your phone, your power bank and both e-bike batteries.
- Remember difficult addresses: hidden entrances and closed yards cost minutes on every repeat order.
7. Delivering in winter
- Dress in layers and keep your hands warm — cold hands make braking and using the phone harder. Kilun includes winter gloves with every rental.
- Brake earlier and corner slower on wet leaves, snow and ice.
- Batteries lose range in the cold. Store and charge them indoors, not outside overnight.
- It gets dark early in winter, so use your lights and reflective vest for the whole shift.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a driving licence to deliver by e-bike?
No. An e-bike with a 250 W motor limited to 25 km/h is treated as a bicycle, so you do not need a driving licence, number plate or vehicle insurance.
Can I deliver for Wolt and Bolt Food at the same time?
Yes, many couriers work with more than one platform. Check the current partner terms of each platform.
How much can I earn?
It depends on the zone, the hours you work, the season and the bonuses each platform offers. The platforms show their current fees in the courier app — check them before you start.
Can I rent an e-bike if I have just arrived in Vilnius?
To rent from Kilun you must be 18 or older and have a valid ID or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP). You pay a €100 refundable deposit at pick-up, and the first weekly payment comes after 1 week of riding.
Requirements can change, so always check the latest information in the official Wolt and Bolt courier guides before applying. Kilun is an independent e-bike rental company and is not affiliated with Wolt or Bolt.
Need an e-bike for delivery work? Kilun rents ENGWE e-bikes in Vilnius from €50/week with only a €100 deposit. Helmet, lock, phone holder and GPS tracker are included, and repairs are free. See rental plans or contact us.
